[Jeongyo No.2] MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame

When ZAFT attacked Heliopolis on January 25, CE 71, the Orb's official tried to hide their Astray project by giving the order to destroy the lab and all shreds of evidence. An Orb nobleman, the Coordinator Rondo Gina Sahaku, defies the order and tries to save the Gundams. He flees the colony with the Astray Gold Frame and later tries to retrieve the Red Frame and Blue Frame but his attempt was thwarted by a Junk Guild team and the Serpent Tail mercenaries.

The Junk Guild tech Lowe Guele in the end pilots the MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame, and Gai Murakumo from Serpent Tail acquires the MBF-P03 Astray Blue Frame. The MBF-P01 Gundam Astray Gold Frame remains in Orb's possession. The Green Frame was assembled and given to Orb ace pilot Barry Ho. Unit 5 was thought to be lost/destroyed with Heliopolis but actually survived and was kept by the Librarian faction, who developed it into Astray Mirage Frame.

The Astray prototypes basically have the same features and identical armaments. The suits have minimal armor over their frames and are equipped with a backpack that can be lowered to the back skirt armor, allowing for additional equipment on the back. The only noticeable difference is the color of the suits, akin to the Power Rangers color code. Red - leader/the main guy, Blue - 2nd-in-command/the cool dude, Gold - the unique character/powerful one. Well. you get what I mean.

In CE, The gold is reserved for Orb's ruling class, much like how Cagalli with her ORB-01 Akatsuki. Hence, in this case, the Gold Frame is destined to be the antagonist Gundam. Another difference is that the Gold Frame is the only Astray unit with both EA and Orb hand plugs.  Meaning that it can use handheld weapons developed by both factions. The other Astray Gundams are only fitted with Orb-only plugs and, thus cannot use EA weapons.

The papercraft is the MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame modelled by Jeongyo No.2 with 111 pages of the non-colored template that you can download below.
