The ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam has become a powerful mobile suit under the control of ZAFT's ace pilot - Shinn Asuka. With the first war won by the skill of a single ace pilot, ZAFT developed Impulse with the same principle as the Strike Gundam. This allows a single pilot to be adapted to various combat environments by applying different types of weaponry and armaments. In other words, Impulse is the ZAFT's version of Strike, the Gundam that slipped out from the grasp of their hands. Having a better technological advantage than the Earth Alliance, ZAFT perfected the Strike's formula and produced a much better version of it. Whatever is lacking in Strike, they improve and perfected it.

That is why Impulse has become a deadly weapon in the hand of Shinn. Its casualties include dozen of warships, countless mobile suits, and the stolen ZGMF-X31S Abyss. Shinn was even able to defeat Lord Kira during Operation Angel Down in the infamous Impulse vs Freedom showdown. It can be argued that Shinn only won because Lord Kira at this point has turned noble and refused to kill anyone - even if that guy is so determined to kill ya, bro? Reaally?! 

Shinn's achievement of defeating Lord Kira and destroying Freedom earns him a mobile suit upgrade - the Destiny Gundam. The Impulse was then handed over to another ZAFT's elite pilot, Lunamaria Hawke, to operate. Lunamaria is a Genki-type girl who is a good pilot, a loyal soldier, and Shinn's good friend and love interest. She survives the second war in a heavily damaged Impulse. 

The papercraft is the Force Impulse Gundam designed by Ette, with 41 pages of the non-colored template.
