[Ette] 1/60 MBF-P02Kai Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai

The MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame is definitely one of the coolest-looking Gundam of all time IMHO. It has a sleek design, the lack of body armor exposes the inner frame that looks like muscles, and it wields a freaking Katana! Since the discovery of the Red Frame unit by the Junk Guild at Heliopolis, the mobile suit was piloted by Guild's tech - Lowe Guele.

Lowe is not only a mobile suit pilot, but he is also a brilliant mechanic, a talented engineer, and an amazing programmer. He is basically an all-rounder. His job is as a technician at the Junk Guild, but what he really is that they didn't tell us is that Lowe Guele is super tech support, because he is very good at troubleshooting stuff and fixing them. In the hand of Lowe, the Red Frame will have a number of improvements and upgrades. You know how dedicated of an engineer he is when he designed and customized the Caletvwlch (don't ask me how to pronounce that) for the Red Frame, a welding torch that can be used as a weapon. Let me say that again for you. A welding torch. On a Gundam. Enuff said.

But the main difference between the Red Frame and other Astray prototypes (or any other Gundams that matter) is the huge cool-looking Katana called the Gerbera Straight. Apparently, Lowe dislikes how the beam weapons depleted the mobile suit battery too much so he opted for a physical sword instead. It is not a new concept in SEED though as the GINN does carry the MA-M3 Heavy Blade.

Lowe also developed an external pack unit that can be attached to the Red Frame, similar to the Strike Gundam. The Red Frame can be connected to the Flight Unit for a long-haul flight or dive deep underwater with the Salvage Unit. The latter made the Gundam looks like it is wearing a weird triangular-shaped deep diving suit though.

This papercraft is the Perfect Grade (PG) version of the MBF-P02Kai Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai modeled by the great Ette himself. Red Frame Kai is the upgraded version of the original Red Frame. The distinction from the original suit is the multipurpose Tactical Arms IIL, which can be deployed in these forms: V, Flight, Delta, Sword, Arrow, and Work. A great Swiss Army Knife indeed. By PG it means that this is a 1/60 scale and larger than the MG version. This big boy comes with 139 pages of non-colored templates for you to build with.
