[SF-Papercraft] VF-1S Valkyrie

Let's continue to delve into another real robot genre, Shoji Kawamori's Super Dimension Fortress Macross which debuted in 1982. This hit series is known outside of Japan as Robotech, which was developed for Television by Harmony Gold. If you are an 80's/90's kid, you are going to remember this awesome series as well its weird continuity - there are different main characters & different animation style as the series progress. Of course, we didn't know better at the time that Robotech is actually a mash-up of three completely different anime - Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada. The producer somehow managed to stitch all these series together as a single narrative, in quite a short amount of time. Sounds crazy? Imagine if we combine Dragonball, Naruto, and Shingeki no Kyojin as one single story. That is lunacy.

The recipe for Robotech works well though. The series is a hit worldwide and become a global phenomenon. Of course, the problem with Robotech is because of its nature of mixing three completely unrelated shows into one, the producer had to change the plot to fit in the narrative. And this anger the fans (especially Macross's fans) because Robotech has deviated from the true art of Macross's story. I wouldn't want to discuss more on the difference between the original Macross and Robotech, but if you're interested you can read more about it here.

With that being said let's talk about the star of the series - a transformable fighter jet or variable fighter as they called it in the series. Here we have the VF-1S Valkyrie, a variant of the VF-1 Valkyrie that was used by U.N. Spacy squadron leaders during Space War I, most famously Skull Leaders Major Roy Focker and Hikaru Ichijyo of the elite Skull Squadron. It is quite a simple papercraft with the VF-1S in its fighter mode. The papercraft is modeled by Shunichi Makino of SF-Papercraft.
