Mobile Suit Gundam - Universal Century (UC)

Ain't we all love cute things? Because that is what we are having today, two adorable SD models - the SD RX-78-2 and SD RX-77-2. The RX-77-2 Guncannon is similar to its siblings the RX-75-4 and the RX-78-2 in terms of the Core Block System. The Block System serves as the mobile suit core as well as the pilot cockpit. It can be transformed into the FF-X7 Core Fighter in case the suit is destroyed. The Guncannon will further be developed into various prototype and variant units throughout the war:

RGC-80 Prototype GM Cannon

This prototype is an offspring of a GM & and Guncannon with its hybrid looks - a body of a GM, the head & shoulder cannon of a Guncannon. The prototype was never made into the production line though, as it was later replaced by RGC-80 GM Cannon which you can see in the MS Zeta Gundam series.

RX-77[G] Guncannon Ground Type

As the name suggests this limited production unit is specialized for ground combat. Due to the scarcity of parts and maintenance problems, the GUncannon Ground Type was built from available spare parts. This mobile suit is deployed by the Feds in Australia and the Asian Front during the war.

RX-77-3 Guncannon Heavy Custom

With a digit increase at its end number, it clearly indicates that this is an upgrade of the Guncannon. Packed with higher offensive power, enhanced armor, heavier payload, and higher thrust output this suit is definitely performed better than the RX-77-2. The Feds should have deployed these units to defend Jaburo instead of the GMs.

RX-77D Guncannon Mass Production Type

This is of course the cheaper version of the Guncannon, stripped down from the armor material and the removal of the Core Block System.
