[Cream-bread] SD Impulse Gundam Set
Gundam SEED Destiny - Cosmic Era (CE)
----------------------------------------------------
Identical to Strike Gundam, the Impulse Gundam can be equipped with three different types of backpacks for combat versatility. This backpack is called the Silhouette pack and it was launched from the battleship Minerva using a small flight unit known as the Silhouette flyer. The variable shift armor will change color depending on which Silhouette pack is attached to the Impulse.
However, unlike the Strike, Impulse was launched in three separate modules from Minerva and combined mid-flight. The first module is the Core Splendor, which is a Gundam Core Fighter. The second module is the Chest flyer, which is the upper body part of Impulse plus its beam weapon. And the final module is the Leg flyer, which is, well, its leg. Watching Impulse's parts launched and combined mid-air is cool but makes you think what's the point? Why can't you just catapult the whole Impulse out of Minerva for combat? The answer is to make Impulse stays longer in combat. And that's what's cool about this suit.
While Strike's ability to stay in combat use the same principle by attaching different Striker packs, its purpose is to extend the battery power and to equip different weapons only. But what if parts of the suit itself were damaged? If both Strike's arms were damaged then the Sword Striker pack won't be useful isn't it?
Impulse modular design allows its body parts to be replaced mid-combat if damaged. There are at least two pair spares for each Chest and Leg flyer onboard Minerva. And unlike Strike, Impulse doesn't need to worry about low battery problems, because the Minerva can remotely wireless-charged Impulse's battery! How cool is that!
The papercraft is a set of three SD versions of Impulse - the Force Impulse, Sword Impulse, and Blast Impulse, designed by the great Cream-bread. Click below to download the template.
