[Josey] RX-78GP01 Zephyranthes

 

It's been a while since I last talked about my favourite Gundam's timeline, the Universal Century. Let us get into Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, a 13-episode OVA series whose storyline sits in between the events of Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

After the defeat at the Battle of A Baoa Qu in December 0079 U.C., the Zeon were forced to surrender to the Earth Federation. However, a number of Zeon forces that eluded capture and did not submit to surrender retreated to plot their revenge. In October 0083 U.C., the Feds sent two mobile suit prototypes to the Torrington Base in Australia when a Zeon mole helped Anavel Gato, a Zeon ace pilot, hijack the RX-78GP02A Gundam "Physalis". Ensign Kou Uraki jumped into action by taking over the other prototype unit, the RX-78GP01 Gundam "Zephyranthes" to face off against the Zeon infiltrator.

When Anavel Gato successfully escaped with the Physalis, the assault carrier MSC-07 Albion was tasked with locating and recovering the stolen unit. The opening story is such a classic Gundam plot - a prototype unit got stolen and the pursuit to get back that unit. And of course, along the way, there will be a colony drop to Earth, again.
