[J2] SD G1 Optimus Prime Truck

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the beloved Transformers franchise. Today, I'll start a Transformers Generation 1 (G1) history and papercraft series to commemorate the event.

There's no better way to start than by telling the history of Transformers. It debuted worldwide in 1984 with its revolutionary robot-to-vehicle action figures, a comic book series, and an action-packed animated series.

The Transformers action figures originated from Takara's Diaclone and Micro Change toylines, rebranded for Western markets. The Diaclone consisted of transforming vehicles and robots piloted by miniature figures. The story is about the space-age war between the heroic human pilots of the "Diaclone" force and the invading forces of the insectoid "Warude" over the mysterious energy source known as the "Freezone." Familiar plot? Because that became the basis of Transformers' lore—the battle of the heroic Autobots against the villainous Decepticons over the Energon, the fuel for the Transformer race.

Hasbro, who obtained the license for the toylines, merged the two series to create the Transformers. And the rest, as they say, becomes history.

*****

The papercraft is the vehicle mode for Optimus Prime, the great leader of the Autobots. It comes with 12-pages of non-colored templates with PDO instructions. The papercraft is the work of J2 or Jeyon0724.
