[Kyuri] RX-78GP03 Dendrobium

 

Under the Gundam Development Project, each prototype was developed with a different focus on technology. Prototype unit 1 (GP01) was designed for high mobility, unit 2 (GP02) was designed for high firepower, and unit 3 (GP03) is a combination of a mobile suit and a mobile armor. The idea to fuse the versatility of a mobile suit and the firepower of a mobile armor produces the RX-78GP03 Gundam "Dendrobium". GP03 is unique because it consists of two parts - the mobile suit Gundam "Stamen" and the Armed Base "Orchis".

Dendrobium boasts a multitude of arsenal in its hand - two large claw arms, a large beam saber (its so enormous it can slice off the deck of a Zeon cruiser), multiple-size micro missile pods, a demolition chain, a beam rifle, a folding bazooka, a folding shield, and an I-Field generator to deflect beam attacks. Do not be fooled by its huge size as it has great mobility thanks to its large propellant capacity.

The Dendrobium, piloted by Kou Uraki, flew into battle to stop the Delaz Fleet's attempt to drop a space colony on Earth on November 11, U.C. 0083. In the final battle against Anavel Gato's Neue Ziel, the fight was interrupted by Bask Om firing the Solar System II at both of them, severely damaging the Armed Base "Orchis". Kou survived the blast but failed to defeat Gato and prevent the colony drop.

Kou Uraki ended up in America's Oakley Base after being released from prison. He never appeared nor was mentioned again in the other U.C. series - Zeta, Double Zeta, and Unicorn and his fate after that is unknown.
